OK, great! You’ve recorded a fantastic voice reel that showcases your range and abilities as a voice artist. Now what do you do with it?!
Here are some tips on what to do with your voice reel once it’s been made:
- Send it to voice agents: we say time and time again, it’s possible to get work as a voice actor without a voice agent. However, it’s much easier and simpler working with someone who can manage this stuff on your behalf. It can just be slow. So providing you have the patience to just keep pushing, keep getting your name out there, it can be done! Make sure to research agents before reaching out to them so you understand what they’re about. We have a great free resource on our website HERE if you’re looking for guidance on how to do this.
- Consider sharing it on your website and social media channels: One of the best things you can do with your voice reel is to make it easily accessible to potential clients. Make sure to share it on your personal website and all of your social media channels. Consider using hashtags and tags to help people find it more easily. Here are the hastags we use: #voicereel #voicetape #voicedemo #commercialreel #showreel #reel #actor #voiceover #voiceactor #voiceartist #voice #createmyvoicereel
- Get feedback: Consider asking industry professionals or fellow voice actors for feedback on your voice reel. This will help you improve it and ensure that it’s the best representation of your voice and abilities.
- Update it regularly: As you gain more experience and add new projects to your portfolio, make sure to update your voice reel regularly. This will ensure that it’s always an accurate representation of your skills and abilities.
Your voice reel is an important marketing tool that can help you land new clients and jobs. By taking the time to promote it and keep it updated, you’ll be well on your way to success in the voice over industry. Creating a voice reel won’t mean you have overnight success as a voice artist. It’s just the seed that will grow, but you need to water it and put it into the light every now and then (apologies for the simplistic analogy but it works!). A career as a voice artist takes time and should be one sought adjacent to other potential revenue streams. But don’t let that put you off, because as any voice artist will tell you, it is definitely worth the wait!
